Nigerian Government Offers Automatic Employment to Families of the Deceased 20 Immigration Job seekers

The Federal Government has offered automatic employment to three members each of families of the dead victims of Saturday’s immigration recruitment tragedy.

All applicants who were injured in the stampede are to get automatic employments too.

A reliable source from the Presidency have just disclosed to PremiumReporters that President Johnathan has canceled the the Nigerian Immigration recruitment exercise that killed over 20 applicants at job screening centers across Nigeria.

Already, the Nigeria Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has commenced investigations into the NIS recruitment tragedy where stampede in various venues across the country led to the death of the job seekers
on Saturday.

There has been an increased clamor for the minister in charge of the recruitment exercise to be fired. However, an ample Presidency source told PremiumReporters that the minister, Abba Moro is a close ally and nominee of the Senate President, David Mark making it impossible for President Jonathan to fire him from office.

Man Receives 20 Lashes For Practicing Homosexuality in Bauchi

A Nigerian man has received 20 lashes after an Islamic court in the northern city of Bauchi convicted him of homosexual offences. Under Islamic law, courts can punish homosexual acts by stoning to death. But the judge said he took into account that the Muslim man, Mubarak Ibrahim, 20, carried out the acts seven years ago, and had stopped the practice. In Nigeria, homosexual acts are illegal under both Islamic and secular law and restrictions have been tightened. Earlier this month, President Goodluck Jonathan signed into law a bill which bans same-sex marriages, gay groups and shows of same-sex public affection. The new legislation applies throughout Nigeria. Most states in the predominantly Muslim north of Nigeria have adopted Islamic law, known as Sharia, since the end of military rule in 1999.
