Rt. Hon. Justice Promise Chibueze Egbulefu Emerges 5th Chief Judge of FAPSSA - EBSU.

Rt. Hon. Justice Promise Chibueze Egbulefu, the Honourable Member Representing Geology and Exploration Geophysics Constituency at the Faculty Judicial Council, Ebonyi State University, was today, January, 13, 2014, enthroned as 5th Chief Judge of the Faculty of Physical Science Students High Court of Law and Justice.

By virtue of that position, he also doubles as the Chairman of the Faculty Judicial council.

His Lordship, Rt. Hon. Justice Promise is the President of  National Association of Abia State Students, Ebonyi State University Chapter. He is a member of the legal team and Senior Advocate of Universal Students Advocating Change Initiative and has a good track record, having litigated several times in the Students High Court.

Other newly elected Judges include:
-Hon Justice Eneh James (Computer Science Constituency, 400L)
-Hon Justice Ezeaka Udochukwu (Industrial Chemistry Constituency, 400L)
-Hon Justice Henry Chukwu (Industrial Physics Constituency,  300L)
-Hon Justice Princess (Industrial Mathematics Constituency, 400L)

These learned fellows will be administering justice to Nigerian students in their various capacities.

Man Receives 20 Lashes For Practicing Homosexuality in Bauchi

A Nigerian man has received 20 lashes after an Islamic court in the northern city of Bauchi convicted him of homosexual offences. Under Islamic law, courts can punish homosexual acts by stoning to death. But the judge said he took into account that the Muslim man, Mubarak Ibrahim, 20, carried out the acts seven years ago, and had stopped the practice. In Nigeria, homosexual acts are illegal under both Islamic and secular law and restrictions have been tightened. Earlier this month, President Goodluck Jonathan signed into law a bill which bans same-sex marriages, gay groups and shows of same-sex public affection. The new legislation applies throughout Nigeria. Most states in the predominantly Muslim north of Nigeria have adopted Islamic law, known as Sharia, since the end of military rule in 1999.
